It was my intension to create a traditional shawl but in a modern version. Kits are available in 10 color ways. One size.

 This shawl looks like a flying bird. YOu can wear it as a usual shawl, or cross it on your chest. There are so many ways of using it. Work it in one piece from tip to tip with the lace-fringes in the bottom (horizontally) and the lace at the center (vertically).

Marimekko
Marimekko
More than 50 years ago the Finnish design-company MARIMEKKO introduced the Happy Smock (a greyish smock with colorful small pockets all over the smock - even at the sleeves). The smock was a smock for the cleaners to wear and the idea was that the cleaners would spread happiness when wearing the smock and they would even be happy themselves. That smock happened to be not only for the cleaners, but for everybody. My teacher at school had one and later at college I had a teacher wearing this smock and I even have one myself. It is still produced now more than 50 years after it was "born".
    I call the poncho "Tribute to MARIMEKKO".  4 colorways.

This design is inspired by the Masai-womens wedding necklace. You can choose between a vest, sweater or a cardigan. Make the yoke first from the top down, then knit the body also from the top down. Add fringe to the vest when finished. The yoke is almost the same whether making the sweater, or vest.
