Double Weave - Sarah Fortin

If your concept of double weave is to weave with only two colors, think again! This class offers the advanced beginner, to experienced weaver, an opportunity to experiment with 8-shaft, 2 block double weave. Using multiple colors, including variegated yarns and coordinating solids, weavers will design, draft and weave a scarf during this intensive week of exploration with double weave. Two warps will be used, beamed together, one of several colors or variegated yarn, and one of coordinating stripes. You will also be able to explore weaving in a tubular fashion and double width cloth, as well as weaving the 2-block structure. This structure is perfect for scarves and shawls, reversible garments and household goods. Finishing techniques will also be discussed and demonstrated. Looms will be dressed from back to front, directions available. Students should be able to put on a warp and weave.
