Advanced Beginner Weaving
- Deborah Chandler

July 16 - 20 (Mon. - Fri.)

This course is designed to meet the needs of both those who have been weaving for a short time and are eager to progress to more advanced weave structures and those who used to weave and want to get started again. The sky is the limit. Come with ideas of areas you wish to pursue or let Deborah suggest some weave structures to study. Everyone will be encouraged to work at their own pace and level. It’s not a race. It’s about expanding your knowledge and confidence.

DEBORAH CHANDLER travels to the U.S. only rarely. Harrisville Designs is fortunate once again to host this talented weaver, beloved teacher and author of the best-selling text for new weavers, Learning to Weave. She spent 16 years as a professional weaver, teaching throughout the U.S., running a weaving shop and writing a monthly column for Handwoven magazine, “Your Weaving Teacher.” Since 1989, when she first traveled to Honduras as a Peace Corps Volunteer, Deborah has devoted most of her considerable talent and energy to organizations involved in improving the lives of artisans in underdeveloped countries. She is currently working with the women’s weaving cooperative “Mayan Hands” in Guatemala, where she makes her home.
