What educators are saying about WoolWorks!
I like the scholarly approach and the way it’s all
tied in to the standards. It is very credible, and obviously written
by someone who is passionate about fibers. It was exactly what I
needed to do a quality job in teaching the art and science of fibers
to children.
–Beth Maurer, K-5 art teacher, Findlay, OH
It is so well organized and easy to
read/use…Although the guide is suggested for grades 3-8, I will be
using some of the lessons in my Kindergarten class.
–Lisa Masi, Lead teacher and K teacher in K-8 pubic charter
school, Andover, NJ
We think the program wonderfully creative. It
draws kids closer to real life experience (at least up until the
last several decades). It is so beneficial for kids to experience
where fibers come from, how they are used, etc. A visit to the mall
doesn’t give much information about the connections between earth
and its creatures. Also a revelation about how hard it was pre
industrial revolution. This stuff can take a lot of effort, time and
skill!
–Michele Robins, homeschool parent of two middle schoolers,
Sunnyvale, CA
It’s visually appealing, chockfull of information,
and well organized…Great background information about the science of
wool (lanolin, chemical structures, etc.).
–Linda Garrett, grades 3 & 4 public school teacher, Brookfield,
VT
It’s comprehensive without being overwhelming for
young children. The written lessons are beautifully put together and
my students love the map!
–AnnMarrie Aquino, grade 4 public school teacher, New York, NY
I like the range of fiber topics that it covers,
and I especially like the map…I will use it when conducting fiber
demonstrations and classes at festivals and workshops. Both children
and adults who come to these community events will benefit from the
information that I am learning from it.
–Betsy Alspach, occupational therapist, Jefferson, MA
Upon review of WoolWorks, I would rate it
“Excellent”… I like how well it is organized and the hands-on
activities.
–Barbara Reitzig, home school parent, Waymart, PA
Great book!...It’s an introduction into the
positive benefits of needlework... They measured, cut and wove! I
loved the attention the students gave their work and especially how
even my autistic students were able to focus!
–Yvonne Krowka, grades 6-8 private school teacher, Pisgah
Forest, NC
It is easy to access, colorfully presented, and
well-organized.
–Dina Kageler, K-5 public charter school art teacher, Volcano,
HI
It is good for integrating science and social
studies at both the elementary and middle school level…good science
education support…We find that art draws the interest of elementary
students, especially girls.
–Angela King, college chemistry professor and science outreach,
Winston-Salem, NC
