Exploring Ethnic Knitting
- Donna Kay

September 10 - 14 (Mon. - Fri.)

In this workshop the focus will be on the design elements and stitch patterns that define the traditional sweaters. Students will choose a traditionally inspired garment to knit – one of Donna’s or design their own using the full range of Harrisville’s New England Shetland or Highland wool. Much time will be devoted to choosing a color palette, “knitting to fit”, construction and finishing.

DONNA KAY has been a knitting and designing teacher for over 25 years and a hand spinner for the last 20. 'Folk' knitting is her passion; her evident delight in sharing her expertise, along with the exceptional quality of her original designs, make her a highly sought after instructor throughout the U.S. Donna's designs, some of them for major yarn companies, have frequently appeared in popular knitting magazines as well as in the books, Christmas Stockings and Knitter's Stash. In order to further promote the art of traditional hand-knitting, she started her own company, Tree of Life Designs.
